Artists Statement
After spending most of my life behind the camera and painting I discovered a third dimension——-- hand building with clay freedom of expression unlimited possibilities
The samples of my work include nudes, masks and other ideas. My nudes evolve as I am building them, often planning the colors with sketches, sometimes adding an unexpected prop like a hula hoop or hat. My masks are inspired by studying antique African art. I build them life size with different clay bodies, affecting the luminosity of the colors. My intention is to give each piece an individual personality and mood.
All my years of experience are now focused on creating with clay—I love it!
